Dunes of Hechtel

Camp Beverlo was not only the cradle of the infantry, but also ideal for the cavalry. Especially the dunes of Hechtel were a real paradise for them.

The dunes used to stretch from Hechtel, over the military domain, to the Geleeg. The sand was used for the construction of houses but also for the construction of the ‘carrés’ (barracks). In the end, you will now mainly find dunes in Hechtel.
